We’re excited to announce a significant expansion of our services that will bring hope and healing to even more families across North Florida. DISC Village is expanding our participation in Florida’s Coordinated Opioid Recovery (CORE) Network to serve Franklin County, building on our successful work in Leon County.
What is the CORE Network?
The CORE Network represents a revolutionary approach to addressing substance use disorders in Florida. Launched by Governor DeSantis in 2022, CORE is the first network of its kind in the United States, designed to tackle substance use, including opioid use, alcohol, fentanyl, and prescription drugs, through comprehensive, long-term treatment that goes far beyond preventing or treating overdoses.
Unlike traditional programs that focus solely on crisis intervention, CORE creates a sustained pathway to recovery by integrating multiple touchpoints in a person’s journey. The network coordinates efforts between first responders, hospital emergency departments, and treatment facilities like DISC Village to ensure that individuals struggling with substance use disorders receive continuous, wraparound care.
Who Does CORE Help?
CORE serves individuals at every stage of their recovery journey, recognizing that substance use affects people from all walks of life. The network has already made a tremendous impact statewide, serving over 28,000 individuals since its inception. Remarkably, nearly 64% of those served at CORE receiving clinics have received medication assisted treatment, a critical component of evidence-based substance use care.
The network doesn’t just help those directly struggling with substance use, it supports entire families and communities. When someone receives effective treatment through CORE, it creates ripple effects of healing that touch spouses, children, parents, friends, and neighbors.
Why CORE Matters
The statistics speak for themselves. Since CORE’s launch, Florida has seen a statewide reduction in overdose deaths and a 3% decline in emergency medical service responses related to suspected opioid overdoses. These aren’t just numbers; they represent lives saved, families kept together, and communities made stronger.
Recent enhancements to the CORE Network make it even more powerful. The integration of specially trained law enforcement officers ensures that individuals encountering the justice system receive compassionate, informed responses that connect them to treatment rather than simply punishment. Additionally, performance-based incentives are driving innovation and accountability across the network, ensuring that high-performing providers like DISC Village continue to deliver exceptional care.
Our Commitment to Franklin County
At DISC Village, we’ve witnessed firsthand the transformative power of the CORE Network and Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) services in Leon County. Now, we’re bringing that same level of comprehensive, compassionate care to Franklin County. - Long-term recovery planning and support
- Coordination with local healthcare providers and social services

This expansion represents more than just additional service locations—it’s a testament to our belief that recovery is possible for everyone, regardless of where they live. Whether someone is struggling with prescription opioids, heroin, fentanyl, alcohol, or other substances, the CORE Network provides a comprehensive support system designed to meet them where they are and walk alongside them on their journey to recovery.
